Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat if I'm adopting? We will further tailor the topics to your needs, substituting options as needed. We can work with various timelines, shorter or longer, around the arrival of your baby. What if I'm adopting an older child? We're happy to work with you on a case by case basis to meet your needs. What if I'm having twins? Twins are our speciality! Stork's founder has twins, as do many other parents on the mentoring team and Advisory Board. What if I'm having triplets? We are delighted to help you and customize to your needs! We know twins well, which helps. We have Friends of Stork who are triplet parents and can give us more informed input also. What if I'm a single parent? We are happy to tailor to your needs and anticipate the trickiest problems to solve. When am I supposed to sign up with Stork? The ideal time is about 3 months into the pregnancy, when you announce to the world. We'll work with you at anytime, but will have to accelerate the process accordingly. What if I don't care for my mentor? We have a strong staff of mentors and are happy to re-match you with another. What if I don't like the topics? We'll work with you to understand what you don't like and offer alternatives. What if I would like a refund? We will refund you less our service fee early in the process. If you cancel toward the end of the process, we will prorate the unused mentoring sessions and refund you for those. Any products you've purchased from retailers will be refunded by them, per their policies. Same for service providers. What if I cancel a meeting? With 24 hours advance notice, we will reschedule at a time that is convenient for you. With less than 24 hours, we reserve the right to count this meeting in your total meeting package. We offer the full package as is and believe strongly that this is the best outcome for our clients. What if I would like to continue after the baby is born? We have plans to offer services through the first years of your child's life, but that is in the future. For now, Stork offers preparations through the first month after baby's birth. However, pending your request, we'll do our best to add on a custom service to meet your needs. What areas does Stork serve? For now we serve the New York area. What if I don't live in New York City? Depending on your location and the availability of our mentors, we will attempt to serve you. Contact us and let's discuss it. This may involve a combination of in person and by telephone mentoring sessions. Does Stork meet on weekends? Yes, we have mentors who are available on weekends. What time are the meetings with mentors? The meetings are arranged around your schedule. Mentors are available over a wide range of times and days. Your availability is one of the data points for matching you with a mentor. How am I matched with a mentor? Just as you will complete a family profile, the mentors have completed mentor profiles. We look at a list of appropriate factors to make the match. Some, but not all, include: where you live, your profession and her past profession (they all come from fascinating careers), where you attended college or graduate school, your hobbies, etc. Plus we use common sense and our best judgment. What if I'm having a baby soon? Contact us and let's try to make an arrangement to meet your needs. What if this isn't my first child, but I'd still like the service? Great! We'll tailor the topics to delete ones you no longer need and offer alternatives. What if I don't want to buy products through Stork? No problem. Stork recommends products and brands to best meet your needs. Whether you buy them through Stork or decide to buy them at all, is your choice. Do you set up the baby registry? Yes, Stork will set up the registry and all you have to do is sign off on it. You can add, delete, edit as you wish. Does Stork recommend only certain brands and not others? No, Stork recommends brands and services that we know first hand, that we believe best meet your needs. We do not have business arrangements that preclude us from recommending any brand we think is best for our client. What retailers do you work with? We work with a variety of leading retailers who stock appropriate product choices. We continually update and reassess our vendors. |
